Employees at a local bar Rounders are doing their best to keep themselves and their guests safe. However, amid the pandemic, their doors are still open to the community. While the spread of COVID-19 is still on the rise. According to the Center for Disease Control Prevention, (CDC) says, "outdoor and indoor seating with no restrictions are more likely to contract the virus”.

The employees at Rounders do their best to keep themselves and the guest safe.

Jamaree Coleman, the security guard for Rounders, has customers wear masks and respect the social distancing of six feet within the facility. However, during his time at work, he experiences challenges among some of the customers.

“We have asked all customers to respect the six-feet apart rule and before entering Rounders you have to wear a mask and at closing, we have someone offering hand sanitizer to our customers,” Coleman said. “I work the front door so I ask everyone to wear a mask and if they don’t comply, I ask them to go over to CVS but some customers follow while others give me grief about wearing the mask.”

Some guests entering chooses not to wear masks for the entire duration of their time in the facility. Due to this safety hazard, Rounders takes precautions for their employees.

“Employees are asked to stay home and get tested if they are feeling any of the symptoms and if they test positive they will not be allowed to return until they test negative with proof,” Coleman said.

The employees also wide down frequently touched surface areas often as guests are moving in and out of the facility.

Dakarai Siler, a bartender at Rounders, believes he feels safe because of the way the facility is operated for guests.

“ I believe it is a lot more organized as far as how we have to deal with people,” Siler said.  “It is not as sporadic and we have a line inside and we can control where people go and how they can move other than everyone just being able to walk around and roam and be wherever they want to be”.

The Tuscaloosa Community should wear their mask and respect the social distancing guidelines while in public areas as instructed by CDC guidelines for more information about COVID-19 and the new variants please visit CDC.gov.
